Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG 2016 Magnum

The village of Castelgiocondo dominates from above the historic Frescobaldi estate in Montalcino, an ancient stronghold built in 1100 to defend the road that led from the sea to Siena. A historical place, it is in fact one of the first four properties where the production of Brunello di Montalcino began in 1800. The estate is located in an ideal terroir for Sangiovese and for the great wines that are produced here: the vineyards live at heights between 300 and 400 meters, the well-draining soils have a sunny and favorable exposure to the south-west. In the vineyard, obsessive care, high densities and low yields make it possible to produce a great Brunello, with an elegant texture and admirable longevity. Castelgiocondo is Brunello di Montalcino that comes from a rigorous selection of only Sangiovese grapes in the vineyard, where all the characteristics necessary to enhance this ancient vine are scrupulously respected. Thus, after a slow maturation both in barrique and in large cask, a wine of great structure, elegant, balanced, with intense aromas and great finesse is born.
