This wine takes its name from the Gromis family who, in the 19th century, owned a fine vineyard in the municipality of La Morra; today the Gaja family, from that same vineyard and a percentage of grapes from the Serralunga d'Alba cru, creates its Barolo DOCG, 100% from Nebbiolo grapes which, although coming from two different terroirs, are able to blend perfectly creating a iconic wine. The 12 months of aging in barrique, followed by a further 18 months in large oak barrels, frame this red which, like all the wines offered by Gaja, is powerful, very rich and suitable for long aging, identifying itself more than ever in the philosophy of the family and transferring its distinctive characteristics to the glass: energy, integrity and passion.
Bright ruby red, on the nose it presents all the aristocratic aromas of Nebbiolo made of withered flowers, violet and licorice, cherry and raspberry, a peremptory crescendo of aromatic herbs and, in the background, a mineral and iron soul. Tasty and substantial sip, it has still young and biting tannins and a long fruity persistence that reveals balance and softness.
With important dishes such as game, both furred and feathered and aged cheeses, it is a blast with black truffles.
